Yateley Industries for the Disabled
New flats for an independent living
There are two sides to how Yateley Industries is helping disabled and vulnerable people gaining independence.
Thanks to the Yateley Industries supported factory, they can benefit from paid meaningful work and training. This allow them to gain personal satisfaction from the activity, to develop knowledge, skills and to receive sufficient income to meet living and social needs. In addition to that, Yateley Industries offer them the opportunity to rent one of their adapted flats, which give them access to independent living.
In the past three years the charity has launched a building project to double its available accommodation for disabled people. At the end they will be able to welcome up to 50 people.
Funding provided by the VINCI UK Foundation: £10,000.
This grant is aimed at furnishing the newly built apartments. The furnishings will be tailored according to each resident’s particular needs, to make their lives easier and comfortable. Once the project completed, Yateley Industries hopes the residents will have somewhere to relax and enjoy their environment in a friendly atmosphere, where they can entertain their friends and family.
VINCI Sponsor: Russell Crampin, Managing Director, Axians UK.
- Russell’s expertise in IT will allow him to provide IT troubleshooting to the charity
- He will also arrange for a mass collection of clothes to furnish the second-hand clothing shop Yateley Industries owns.
