Angus RDA
Angus Riding charity partners with global engineering giant to tackle SOCIAL EXCLUSION
Angus RDA
Angus Riding for the Disabled Association (Angus RDA) has been awarded £5,500 by the VINCI UK Foundation to help buy a pony that will aid physical therapy for disabled people.
The Foundation is supported by Perth-based Omexom UK & ROI, part of the VINCI Energies group; the Omexom Sponsor will volunteer his time to help with work on the project.
Angus RDA requested support from the VINCI UK Foundation to fund upgrades to their site and the purchase of a new pony. The charity offers children and adults with learning and physical disabilities physical and mental stimulation by teaching them to ride and learn basic horse-care. Chris West, a Quantity Surveyor at Omexom, will act as the charity’s project Sponsor and use his expertise to offer commercial and financial support.
The VINCI UK Foundation, funded by VINCI businesses across the UK, supports groups and charities which work to tackle exclusion, foster community integration and improve access to employment and housing. Launched in early 2016, the Foundation is unique in its support for good causes due to its specific focus and provision of skilled volunteers.
Elinor Phillips, Centre Manager, Angus RDA said:
“Riding is of enormous benefit to disabled people, both as a fun sport and an excellent form of therapy for people with a wide range of disabilities. This boosts self-confidence and provides an opportunity to interact with others with similar interests and difficulties in their lives.
“Financial support from the VINCI UK Foundation, as well as the time volunteered by our Omexom project Sponsor, will be invaluable in helping us to support disabled people in Angus.”
Through the Foundation, all VINCI’s employees, from apprentices to senior management, can use their experience and skills to benefit their local communities.
Businesses supporting the Foundation include VINCI Energies UK & ROI, VINCI Construction UK, VINCI Concessions, Eurovia, Bachy Soletanche, VINCI Construction Grands Projects, Nuvia and Freyssinet.
