The Friends of the Bewsey Park
The Friends of the Bewsey Park has been awarded £7,000 by the VINCI UK Foundation to to re-model an existing kitchen area in the Community Room to become our flexible IT space.

The Friends of Bewsey Park are made up of long term user groups of Bewsey Community Park Centre. The Centre works together to provide much needed opportunities for local people to get support and be supported in their everyday lives. They have worked tirelessly to improve the facilities at Bewsey Park Community Centre, the surrounding park area and bowling greens and to provide a point of contact for the residents and communities that make up the Bewsey area in Warrington.
The Centre, its children’s play area and bowling green’s provide much needed facilities is a socially and economically deprived community area. The Centre hosts a credit union which operates on a weekly basis affording a drop-in service, enables the local college to run courses in the locality (local transport is very costly) including literacy and numeracy classes, IT for the scared; mental wellbeing and creative courses, weekly coffee mornings, a base from which a local history group meets, older peoples monthly lunch club, ‘Breathe Easy’ group, bingo group, Narcotics Anonymous support group.
The Friends of the Bewsey Park requested support from the VINCI UK Foundation to to re-model an existing kitchen area in the Community Room to become our flexible IT space designated for this very purpose without impacting on the rest of the space. The design will be such that the space can be opened up so that it forms part of a more flexible space for teaching and learning or be used as a discreet and intimate space just for IT use; and to upgrade the then remaining kitchen area by improving the existing ventilation system; providing a hob, microwave housing and double wash sink to support the running of the coffee mornings and luncheon club and to provide an area where coffee/tea and light refreshments can be catered for other events within the Community Room. Julie Cartwright, a Public Liaison Officer at Eurovia, will act as the charity’s project Sponsor and will help with funding.
