Solihull Children’s Special Needs Association
Solihull Children’s Special Needs Association (SCSNA) has been awarded £10,000 by the VINCI UK Foundation to upgrade a specialist play centre for disabled children.
The Foundation is supported by Solihull-headquartered Actemium UK, part of the VINCI Energies group; the Actemium Sponsor will volunteer his time to perform practical work needed to complete the project.
SCSNA requested support from the VINCI UK Foundation to erect a permanent canopy over its outdoor play area, so that disabled children using the centre can benefit from the freedom of being outdoors whatever the weather. Paul Williams, a HV Contract Manager at Actemium Walsall, will act as the charity’s project Sponsor and use his expertise to help deliver the necessary work.
The VINCI UK Foundation, funded by VINCI businesses across the UK, supports groups and charities which work to tackle exclusion, foster community integration and improve access to employment and housing. Launched in early 2016, the Foundation is unique in its support for good causes due to its specific focus and provision of skilled volunteers.
Alison Elkin, a Trustee at SCSNA, said:
“Due to the disabilities and special needs that our children have, they are often excluded from or find difficulty in using public play areas. This makes it all the more important for them to be able to enjoy being outside when at our Playgroup.
“Financial support from the VINCI UK Foundation, as well as the time volunteered by our Actemium project Sponsor, will be invaluable in helping us to deliver a safe and stimulating space.”
Through the Foundation, all VINCI’s employees, from apprentices to senior management, can use their experience and skills to benefit their local communities.
