Helen Owen Marketing Enterprises (HOME)
A central hub to gather the community
HOME seeks to help both job-seekers and local community groups, agencies and charities by connecting them through marketing: job seekers need work experience, and charities need to improve their communication.
This organisation offers free training in a variety of marketing related subjects – website design, IT, social media, digital marketing – combined with work experience in one of the local community groups. Thanks to this, these groups can improve their online web presence. HOME targets young people who have never worked, people with autism, people who have been unemployed a long time, those who do not speak English as their first language, the elderly, and broadly those experiencing loneliness and isolation. After the training, HOME encourages and supports them to find full-time paid job in their chosen career.
Funding provided by the VINCI UK Foundation: £8,000.
Their new project is to renovate the Grilredge Café, and to use it as a central hub for disadvantaged people to visit and benefit from. It will be a place for training and activities to gather the community and of meeting for other community groups. It will also offer training and development opportunities to local disadvantaged people and apprentices, as this work will be undertaken by them. This grant will help them finance the renovation of the Café.
VINCI Sponsor: Mike Rozier, Senior Project Manager, VINCI Construction.
- Mike will use his experience and expertise to help with the Café’s renovation and design.
- He will also support the volunteers by being available to support learners requiring assistance throughout the project.
